If Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC, Tried these;

Image
Question .  I've tried every option in the boot options menu and cannot get Windows 8 to boot. I just get 'Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC." And later: "Log file: D:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt" with the Shut down and Advanced options button, which just takes me to the boot options screen. I have no install media as this is originally a win7 machine for which I downloaded Windows 8. Solutions: Sharief K  replied on  September 17, 2013 Microsoft   Forum Moderator     Support Engineer Hi Scott, 1.        What is the make and model of the computer? 2.        Have you tried the option “system restore” from  advanced options? 3.        Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue? Let’s try these methods and check if it helps. Method 1:  I would suggest you to create an  installation media and try to perform automatic repair and check if it helps in fixing the issue. H

How to Use the Advanced Startup Options to Fix Your Windows 8 or 10 PC

Steps to follow, Windows 8. Windows 8 and 10’s advanced startup tools function differently than the tools on previous versions of Windows. If your Windows 8 or 10 system can’t boot properly, the tools will appear automatically so you can fix the problem. We’ve covered several ways to access the advanced startup options if your PC is working properly , including through the PC settings application. You can also create a recovery drive to ensure you’ll always be able to access these options. How to restore your Windows 7 computer to factory settings

You may need to restore your computer to factory settings to fix some computer problems or crashes or to clear your personal information from the system. Follow these instructions to reset your computer using the Dell Factory Image Restore that come from the factory on your computer. Notes: This process only sets the C: drive back to factory settings and leaves the other partitions alone. If you have deleted the Dell Factory Image Restore partition, then the option to use the Dell Factory Image Restore will not appear and you will have to reinstall the Operating System manually or from a backup. For more information refer to Dell Knowledge Base articles, How to manually reinstall Windows 7 on a Dell computer? (when you have installation disks) or My Dell Computer Did Not Come With Disks . Warning : Restoring your computer to the factory settings will remove all files and programs except those it came with. You will lose all perso

Use the Recovery Partition

Modern computers come with the operating system pre-installed and a  recovery partition  to restore it. A partition is a portion of the hard drive that is sectioned off. Primarily, they’re used to limit the amount of space that can be used for certain data. For example, a hard drive could have several partitions: a recovery partition which contains all the recovery setup files necessary for a clean refresh of the operating system, a partition for the operating system and all installed programs, and a partition for all extra data. Starting a recovery via the recovery partition usually means that you have to press one of the “F” keys (such as F1-F12) the moment after you hit the power button. These should be: Acer – Alt + F10 Asus – F9 Dell/Alienware – F8 HP – F11 Lenovo – F11 MSI – F3 Samsung – F4 Sony – F10 Toshiba – 0 (not numpad) while turning on, release key when Toshiba logo appears Doing so tells the BIOS (the basic firmware that runs primitive functions )
